PMs start date announcement-2.png

The Professional Masters (PM) is an innovation pioneered by AIT. It is a one year master’s degree that recognizes and builds on the experience of participating professionals.  Key features of AIT’s PM are

  • designed for practicing professionals

  • delivered by a team that blends theory and practice

  • provides a deep and practical learning experience

  • creates an opportunity to learn with professionals from many countries in the region

  • structured for completion in 12 months, optimizing on the time that busy professionals can devote

  • empowers graduates with an AIT degree which enjoys international recognition

  • allows for an opportunity to learn while continuing to work

All Professional Masters programs are taught by a team of academics and practitioners.  Academic faculty provide a solid foundation of relevant theories and frameworks.  Professional practitioners with experience in teaching add a significant practical dimension to the program.

Participants are experienced, industry professionals. A good bachelor’s degree is a requirement for entry but can be waived for suitably experienced professionals. English language proficiency is necessary. The PMs attract participants from across the region.

Program delivery is through a blend of innovative tools and techniques that factor in the current pandemic-induced restrictions. In more than 10 years since PMs were launched, AIT has created several offerings to cater to the needs of various categories of professionals. AIT’s School of Management currently offers 3 Professional master’s degrees aimed at three distinct groups of professionals.

Professional Masters: A choice for practicing managers (Guest Column by Dr.Venkatesh - Program Director)

Education is expected to prepare us for change, but educational institutions are often slow to change. This paradox creates a disconnect between educational offerings in the form of degrees and what learners need to survive and thrive at work.

If indeed the degrees from universities and institutions of higher learning are disconnected from realities of the workplace, as eloquently reviewed by Prof. Ajitha Premasiri, why is it that the demand for such degrees has not declined? In my view as a higher education faculty and administrator for over 25 years, the answer lies in value of paper: often degrees work as signals of a general intellectual capability of its holder, as evidenced by that person’s ability to gain admission to a prestigious institution, rather than as a signal of the holder’s capability to do a job or perform in a role.
